The Presidential Debate hit the airwaves last night. Millions were glued to their televisions screens and even more were glued to their computer screens blogging and tweeting and posting updates about the debate as it happened – live, Web 2.0 style.

Hey! Noticed one of my tweets from the debates somehow made your radar. Thanks for noticing.
As for who I believe won the debate…
I think it was more or less an even split. If I look at the debates objectively, then McCain won. McCain played to his strong suit and really owned the foreign policy aspect of the debates. He definitely has more experience in that area and his confidence showed. Obama’s expertise should have been in the economy, but I’d say both candidates were pretty evenly split on the economy. No clear winner. So McCain won that debate.
If I look at the debates as an average voter, however, Obama won the debate. But only by a small margin: his charisma. Obama definitely seemed very nervous during this debate, but his charisma as a leader still managed to show through. So I think the average voter would go for Obama in this debate.
I must say, I was very disappointed in these debates because both candidates seemed to bicker a little too much and neither were terribly specific with their ideas. I hope the next debate will be of much higher quality and a clear cut winner will be evident.
Thanks again for the mention. I sincerely appreciate it. I’m not sure if I’m following you on Twitter, but I can guarantee I am now!
Hey Mattie,
Thanks for stopping by. Your tweet caught my eye and I’m glad you don’t mind that I posted it. I’m fascintated by the way this election is playing out. Here in Canada, our politics is not nearly as interesting – or has as much of a global impact. In fact, we’re days away from a Federal Election here too so we’re in for changes all around I think.
I’m following you on Twitter too now. And FriendFeed!
Hope you have a great Monday!
~ Deborah 🙂
